The professional rules of conduct are the Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung (BRAO) (German Federal Lawyers' Act), the Berufsordnung für Rechtsanwälte (BORA) (Professional Code of Conduct for Lawyers), the Fachanwaltsordnung (FAO) (Professional Code of Conduct for Accredited Specialist Lawyers), the Rechtsanwaltsvergütungsgesetz (RVG) (German Act governing Lawyers' Fees), the Berufsregeln der Rechtsanwälte der Europäischen Gemeinschaft (CCBE) (Code of Conduct for European Lawyers). Professional Indemnity Insurance:
Rechtsanwälte are obliged by a statutory provision in the BRAO to take out professional indemnity insurance. The minimum sum assured for each case of liability is EUR 250,000. The details are set out in Section 51 BRAO.
